February 1993
The Invest in Davao project was launched by the Davao City Government
in partnership with the Philippine Exporters Confederation of Region XI with the assistance of the USAID and the PHILEXPORT –National Confederation
Former DTI-XI Regional Director Syvelyn Tan serves as Executive Director with Ms. Christine Rizardo as Assistant Executive Director


November 1994
The City Government adopted the Davao City Investment Incentive Code (City Ordinance no. 2017)
Roberto Ma. Arquiza gets the vacant Assistant Executive Director post.


January 1995
Investment Promotion went full-blast aided by the guarantees and mandates of the Code plus the production of world-class promotional collaterals such as the Davao Brochure and the Davao Advantage video


December 1995
Private Investments reached P 5 billion mark


February, 1996
Another contract was inked between PhilExport and the City Government of Davao to implement the “Invest in Davao” project. This time, funding is 100% shouldered by the City Government of Davao at P 30 million annually until February 1999.


April 1996

The website of DCIPC was launched through the hosting of a Davaoeno working in New York in the name of Jon Belisario III with technical assistance from Ernie Tomas Jr and Warlito Vicente Jr.


May 1996

A PR and Communications Division was added in the DCIPC (manned by Ivan Cortez and Bernard Buela)


December 1996
Private Investments reached over P 5 billion
The Davao City CD-Rom Guide has been released


March 1997
The first publication of the Davao City Factbook was released to the media.

May 1997 After two postponements, the first DCIPC US Selling Mission took off covering six states , 3 from each coast


December 31, 1997
The Invest in Davao project contract was terminated due to a shift in priority programs. This was the time when the financial crisis affected most of the Asian economies with the value of the peso free falling from 26 to a dollar to range between 48-50 to a dollar.


August 1998

E.O. 31 was issued creating and constituting an investment promotion unit under the City Planning & Development Office w/ a 1998 ADF budget of P 3 million


August 1999

The 12th council amended the Investment Incentive Code thru a unanimous vote forming a new Investment Incentive Board and a new technical secretariat under the OCPDC.

7 plantilla positions were created:
One (1) Economist IV
Three (3) Economist III
One (1) Economist II
One (1) Economist I
One (1) Economic Researcher


October 1999

The newly-formed DCIPC team under the City Planning Office has transferred operations to the former DCTS building (now 911 building) along Ponciano Reyes


March 2000

The official website of the City Government of Davao was launched at the Atrium of Gaisano Mall with the DCIPC as web administrator and Hubport Interactive as developer and host.


October 2002
Engr. Roberto Teo was appointed as Economist IV and head of the DCIPC


August 2003
DCIPC releases the Davao City Investment Briefing Video in two versions,
English and Mandarin through the production of Mike Balbin


September 2004
The new website of Davao City and the 2004 Davao City CD-Rom Guide were launched during the Asia-Pacific Conference, Trade and Exhibits in Las Vegas USA


December 2005
The DCIPC transferred to its new office inside the Magsaysay Park Complex
